So, I don’t know if you might have seen this coming, what with the contents of “Love in the Time of Covid 2: Pandemic Bugaloo”; but my third post on being sick in 2020 has nothing to do with COVID19 except to say that I’m in a state that had no deaths yesterday on the date of writing (7/8/20) and the hospital where I’m going to have a major surgery for a chronic illness isn’t worried about a second wave while I’m scheduled to be in hospital for two surgeries on my brain and exploratory monitoring in between.
I’m not going to bore you with all the details; but on August tenth at about 4:30 am I will take my medications and report to the hospital for a surgical series I’ve been preparing for, for either just 5 weeks, or for ⅔ of my life, depending how you look at it. The internet is a miracle, but a craniotomy is likely to produce the worst headache of my life, so, gentle readers, I will be glad to get any well-wishes you may have to offer, but I will not be catching up with your messages in any reasonable amount of time.
All my posts for the next few weeks, after a little birthday one Wednesday, will be kind guests making posts for me (You’ll recognize those because I’ll have introductions of them at the beginning, as well as because they won’t be in my voice). Some of the voices will be people you recognize from the podcast, and some won’t. I’ll be back writing on schedule soon enough and I hope you won’t notice the difference much, if at all.
I’ll catch you on the flip side, but essentially, I look forward to having excellent news about my health for you when I get back to writing in a time-synchronous way. Here’s one last pre-surgery, pre-techs-and-nurses-shaving-my-head photo, showing off my greatest vanity.

It feels a little cheap to ask for this now, especially since odds are my return-on-investment on the Patreon will be GREAT but on an extreme delay, or filmed in my PJs while wearing a teletubby-style head dressing in the hospital, (or maybe both?) but if you could see your way to subscribing and helping keep the lights on either with a subscription at www.Patreon.com/readyforpolyamory or a one-time couple dollars at www.ko-fi.com/readyforpolyamory, you get my undying gratitude but also keep the lights on here long enough for me to get things back to normal in the rest of my life. Thank you all so much for continuing to read, and to listen to the podcast through the end of the season (It’s all pre-edited and pre-loaded. Apple no longer hates me, guys! Go leave a review!)
